Microdosing 101

Health benefits

In addition to many regular positive experiences, positive medicinal effects have also been reported by test subjects from all over the world. In James Fadiman’s research, the most positive results were reported in the following complaints/disorders:

  • Depression
  • ADHD and ADD
  • Cluster headache
  • Migraine
  • Coercive disorders (OCD)
  • Eating disorder
  • Menstrual complaints (PMS)
  • Hair loss
  • Addiction
  • Recovery from stroke
  • Allergy
  • Social anxiety
  • Burn out

However, the medicinal effects of microdosing have not yet been clinically studied (by means of a randomized double-blind study with a control group). The process that precedes this is very long, just like these studies themselves.

But there is no doubt that this has to be investigated. Firstly, because regular medication or therapy for ADHD, depression and cluster headaches often do not work. Also, patients often experience too many side effects of regular medication. Usually this is the biggest reason to look for an alternative.

Cluster headaches

Microdosing shows promise in the treatment of cluster headache, the often described as unbearable headache that would feel heavier than for example childbirth or kidney stones. Patient group Clusterbusters takes the lead in research into psychedelics for cluster headaches. Indeed, many patients (~80%) have found relief through the use of LSD, the legal analog 1cP-LSD and/or magic Truffles and magic Mushrooms, while all other treatments had failed. In many cases, these substances keep the headaches at bay. The doses the patients use to treat their headaches are generally a little too large to be considered sub-perceptual, yet within this group there is sufficient evidence that microdoses can also be effective. In many cases we talk about minidosing.
